Auckland's party band
Across 3,000+ shows we've played nearly every kind of private event in Auckland: milestone birthdays, engagement parties, backyard anniversaries, marquee celebrations, festivals, community events and school galas.
We're set up and sound-checked before your first guest arrives, and we adjust volume, tempo and setlist to your crowd. From the teenagers at a 21st to the grandparents at a 70th, everyone ends up singing along.
Milestone birthdays
A 40th might want 90s indie and 2000s bangers, a 60th probably wants Motown and classic rock, a 70th leans into the 60s and 70s. We build the setlist around the guest of honour's era. A specific song for the cake? Ask on the booking call and we'll be honest about what's possible.
Outdoor parties & festivals
We play outdoor festivals, summer garden parties, marquee events and community fundraisers. We need mains power and some cover for the gear, and we'll walk through power, stage area and a weather plan with you ahead of time. The 6,000W PA comfortably fills an outdoor crowd of up to 400.
What's included
Our 6,000W PA, stage lighting rig, wireless radio mics for speeches and toasts, your playlist or suitable background music through our system whenever you need it, public liability insurance documentation, and direct coordination with you or your event manager in the lead-up to the day.

01What kind of private functions does Hands Off play?
We play the full range of private functions across Auckland: milestone birthdays (30ths, 40ths, 50ths, 60ths, 70ths), engagement parties, anniversaries, house parties, festivals, community events, school galas, bar and bat mitzvahs, and private club bookings. If there's a reason to celebrate, we're there.
02How much does it cost to hire a party band in Auckland?
Pricing for a private function or party band in Auckland varies with performance length, venue location, and date. Our standard booking is the full five-piece band; a smaller trio or duo, if you need one, costs less. Get in touch with your event date, venue, and guest numbers and we'll send a personalised quote within 24 hours.
03Can you play milestone birthday parties?
Absolutely — milestone birthdays are one of our most popular private bookings. We've played 30ths, 40ths, 50ths, 60ths, and 70ths across Auckland. Send us the birthday person's favourite era or genre (70s disco, 80s rock, Motown, modern pop) and we'll build a set of crowd-pleasers that gets every generation on the dance floor. Learning a specific birthday song for the cake moment is no problem.
04Do you play outdoor events, festivals, and beach weddings?
Yes. We regularly play outdoor festivals, garden parties, backyard birthdays, marquee events, and beach weddings. For outdoor bookings we need access to mains power (a 10A outlet minimum) and some cover for our equipment — a marquee, canopy, or pergola works perfectly. We'll walk through logistics with you before the day.
05How much space do you need for the band?
For the five-piece band, our standard line-up, we need roughly a 4m × 3m stage area. If space is tight, the optional trio needs about 3m × 2m and the duo fits into almost any corner. We bring all our own equipment — mic stands, monitors, backline — so you don't need to source anything from the venue.
06Can we hire just a duo or trio for a smaller function?
Yes, if you need to. The five-piece is our standard line-up, but for smaller private functions, intimate settings, tighter budgets, or venues with noise restrictions we can provide an acoustic duo or trio. You still get the same vocalist-led Hands Off sound, just scaled to fit.
07Do you travel outside Auckland for private events?
Yes — we're based in Auckland but regularly travel for private functions across the North Island, including Waiheke Island, Matakana, Coromandel, Hawke's Bay, Tauranga, Rotorua, Taupō, Hamilton, and Wellington. Travel costs (fuel, ferry, accommodation where needed) are rolled into a single transparent quote so there are no surprises.
08Are you insured and do you bring your own PA and lighting?
Yes and yes. We carry full public liability insurance (certificate available on request) and every booking includes our 6,000W PA system, stage lighting rig, and wireless radio mics for speeches. No extra hire or AV sourcing required on your end.
